General Meeting - Scott Poulter "Coastal Passage Planning - Cruising for Pleasure"

When we first started cruising, after much research, I had a plan to visit all the “great anchorages” in the cruising guides and do all the things that were described.
In doing so we subconsciously chose to anchor in places that, given the weather at the time, we should have either bypassed, avoided or delayed visiting.
We also chose to make passages that ended up being quite unpleasant, primarily because we had a plan to be somewhere at a pre-defined time or to meet a schedule that we had set in order to see everything.
Now, with a few nautical miles under the keel, we have developed a plan to always be in the right anchorage at the right time and undertake every passage in acceptable conditions.
