DOVER, SOUTHPORT, GREAT TAYLORS AND RECHERCHE BAY
In response to COVID making its presence ever more felt the itinerary for this cruise has been reluctantly but necessarily changed. The original plan was to join Port Esperance sailing Club (PESC) for a BBQ, some socialising on the beach and to perhaps offer an opportunity for any young PESC dinghy sailors to hop onboard a CYCT Cruising boat for the day-sail from Dover to Southport.
With COVID guidelines and the transmission rate of Omicron in mind the cruise will decide closer to the date whether it might join PESC between 26-28 th. Although PESC will be limiting numbers for their event, Commodore Matt Wardell, continues to extend a welcome to CYCT to join them.
Grateful that overnight sailing is not restricted, the cruise will continue as a week- long opportunity for CYCT members to cruise in company taking in Port Esperance, Southport, Great Taylors and, perhaps, Recherche Bay. The likelihood of enjoying knockout scenery, great beach walks, a bracing swim, well-spaced good company and a few fish, oysters, mussels and abalone from the clean and fresh waters of southern Tasmania remain unchanged.
